Save the Date - June 20: LA Chargers Community Tailgate & Pet Adoption - Join LA Animal Services as we partner with the Los Angeles Chargers for the Community Tailgate and Pet Adoption Event happening on Saturday, June 20 at the Chesterfield Square/South LA shelter from 10am to 2pm. To encourage the community to adopt, adoption fees during the event for dogs, pups, cats, and kittens will be waived thanks to the Chargers Impact Fund.*

Stop on by and meet the wonderful animals ready to be a part of your family's line-up! The team from Dogs Playing for Life will be onsite throughout the day to run playgroups that will showcase the personalities of our adoptable dogs!
*Adoption fees for dogs and cats four (4) months and older will be waived at our other LA Animal Services shelter locations: North Central, East Valley, Harbor, West LA, and West Valley thanks to a generous grant from the Carroll Petrie Foundation and the ASPCA.

Furry friends adopted from LA Animal Services join their new families spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. Adopters also receive a Petco flyer with discounts to help make their pet adoption a success and a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, which provides up to $250 for follow-up veterinary care within the first 14 days of adoption. In addition, dogs are also eligible for free dog training classes with Paws for Life K9 Rescue at their People & Pet Innovation Center in Mission Hills, CA. Contact info@pawsforlifecanine.org for more details.

If you can't adopt, consider fostering a pet. When you foster a canine buddy or feline friend, you not just save the life of that animal, but also free up a space for another dog or cat in need. To view furry friends available to adopt or foster, go to laanimalservices.com/pets

LA City - Know Your Rights Training & Resources

LA City - Know Your Rights Training & Resources

Posted on 06/10/2025

Several city departments provide Know Your Rights training and resources: Community Investment for Families DepartmentLA Public Library, and Department of Recreation and Parks.

Know Your Rights: Whether you are at work, home or in your community, it's important that all Angelenos know their rights.

  • If officers ask you questions, you have the right to say: “I choose to remain silent.”
  • You have the right to consult with an attorney before answering any questions or signing any documents.
  • If you have valid U.S. immigration documents, carry them with you. Never carry false documents or lie about your immigration status.
  • No law enforcement officer can enter your home without your permission unless that officer has a warrant signed by a judge. An administrative warrant from the Department of Homeland Security does not give officers the right to enter your home against your will.
