Sung Yuen (Sy) Wong

EDUCATION: Shanghai Jiao Tung University, Cornell University, degrees of BSEE, MSE and Ph.D.

WORK EXPERIENCES: From 1945 managed water purification plant in Shanghai, GE and Brown Boveri High Voltage Laboratories, prior to switching to computers in 1952 at Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton NJ. That computer was in Smithsonian for decades. Developed first all semiconductor computers for NSA followed by NAVY and ARMY computers as Computer Development Chief Engineer at Philco in the 1950s. Developed digital signal processing for radars and computer for missiles at Hughes Aircraft Company before retired after 25 years.

OTHER U.S. and FOREIGN EXPERIENCES: Loaned to Office of Naval Research Operations Research Group in 1957 to study Command and Control System for CINCPACFLT. United Nations Technical Assistance Program to India in 1961, computer design for local fabrication "with very little foreign exchange but unlimited local labor." Guest of Taiwan Air Force Chief in 1969 on a radar problem. Guest of Director of Systems Research Institute of Beijing and East China Institute of Shanghai, trips between 1989-1991 on a software technology problem.

POST RETIREMENT: Devoted to own researches on a computer with objective to approach zero cost, power consumption and physical size and software language that unifies programming with application-specific integrated circuit designs.

JOINED TARZANA NC in end of 2006 hoping to get involved in City infrastructure improvements by establishing volunteer operations analysis groups.
