David R. Garfinkle

I am a long time Tarzana resident and have been active in the community for over 36 years. Thirty-eight years ago my wife Evelyn and I fell in love with a vacant lot in Melody Acres, built our house, and raised two children, along with goats and chickens, fruits and vegetables.  I am President of the Tarzana Property Owners Association (TPOA) and have served on their Board of Directors for many years.  I am a member of the Melody Acres Neighborhood Association (MANA), and belong to the Tarzana Community and Cultural Center.  I am a consultant in business development for the aerospace industry.  I try hard to balance my professional, civic, and family activities and my love of travel.

I believe close coordination between the various organizations in our area is critical to preserving our unique community and to help shape the future of Tarzana and the city of Los Angeles.  My current major community involvement is working for the preservation of the look and feel of our unique community.  Toward that end I am actively working to try and integrate the community concerns and desires into the proposed Community Character Ordinance (anti-mansionization) and to promote more effective code enforcement.
