11th Annual Earth Day Festival – FREE Fun-filled Activities for the Whole Family, Food Trucks, Music and Learn How to Live Green Experts, and Free Tree Giveaway; Saturday, April 27 from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Tarzana Recreation Center, located at 5655 Vanalden Ave., Tarzana

Throughout the day, visitors will enjoy live music and family entertainment, while learning more about living green from Los Angeles Sanitation, HoneyLove Urban Beekeepers, Food and Water Watch, Food Foward, Portola Middle School, TreePeople, and LA Conservation Corps who is giving away free trees to L.A. residents (while supplies last). Children can create art projects, plant native California plants from seed, visit animals at the Critter Squad station, play in the inflatable jumpers and much more! Don’t miss the Poster Contest Award Ceremony at Noon and the 1,000 plus colorful Earth Day Posters that will be on display by local school children that participated in the Earth Day Poster Contest.

Thanks to the LA28 Olympics and Paralympic Games commitment, the PlayLA Youth and Adaptive Youth Sports Program provides affordable and accessible sports programming to kids of all abilities through Los Angeles. At 88 pre-qualified recreation centers and 36 pools sports programs are automatically offered for $10.00. 

Every one of our recreation centers and pools offers the PlayLA program.

L.A. Al Fresco application portals are now open!

In response to the success of the temporary program, the City is now offering permits for businesses that would like to offer Al Fresco dining permanently.

Mayor Bass announced that restaurant owners can now apply for the permanent Al Fresco outdoor dining program. The outdoor dining program originally was created in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and remains popular. The Mayor also launched financial relief for businesses owners to help them continue participating in the permanent program.

Small business owners will be automatically considered for the Fee Relief Program upon submitting their application for a revocable permit ― the permit required to operate outdoor dining on the sidewalks and on-street. Business owners are encouraged to apply early to take advantage of the fee relief and ensure adequate time for processing and inspections. As many as 1,800 small businesses are expected to benefit from the Mayor’s fee relief program.  Learn more HERE
